Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3

Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3

This is probably the most popular ever print-and-apply label system. The classic model already proved itself around the whole world, being known as a robust, agile, reliable and long-lasting system. Now, the third generation brings even more improvements, to which we highlight the new large color touch-screen digital HMI with icons for an even more comfortable interaction and appealing look. But the enhancements do not end there, the whole compressed-air circuit was renewed, which now allows savings around 80% in the air consumption. The system supports several types of applicators for different application methods.

Apply Labels at High Speeds

High Speed Application

With the Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3 you can print the batch number and expiration date on your pre-printed label or print the whole label when you really need it, moments before its application onto the product. The system can reach very high application rates, somewhere around the 15 000 products per hour.

Excellent Precision

Apply your labels in the right spot with millimeter precision. No more misplaced, crooked or wrinkled labels.

"Just-in-Time" Printing

The problem of keeping stocks of labels with variable information that eventually gets obsolete is a thing of the past. Printing the labels when you really need them saves time, money and prevents headaches.

Compatible with most Print Engines

Compatible with most Print Engines

You can equip your Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3 with a thermal-transfer printer module from any of the famous brands like Zebra®, Sato®, Datamax®, among many others, to print labels with good quality.

Reduce Compressed Air Costs by 80%

Pneumatic System

The pneumatic system was completely revised for the third generation. Not only it makes maintenance easier, with different colors for each air pressure circuit, but also by reaching great savings on the air consumption. A consumption that is reduced by 80% means that the factory compressors have to work less, so they do not suffer as much mechanical wear and thus use less power, improving the environment and saving money. These savings are possible because the air pressure valve is closed as soon as the necessary vacuum to hold the label is achieved. A sophisticated controller monitors the pressure sensors and opens and closes the valve again only when the vacuum level starts dropping. With this technology, the savings are gigantic when compared to systems that keep consuming indefinitely. The air circuit for the arm movement and the air circuit for the tamp, which generates the vacuum to hold the label and then blows to apply it, are identified with different colors. The system contains an air tank in order to always keep the air pressure at the best levels.

Easy to Use

This system is very easy to set-up. You just need to calibrate the printer to the label size being used, just like it is done for any other desktop label printer. Then, simply submit a print job and the applicator automatically synchronizes with the printer, catching the label and applying it onto the product that was detected by a sensor.

With Industrial Touch-Screen Console

HMI of the Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3

The new controller has a high-definition color display with an industrial resistant touch-screen interface that works well even if the operator is wearing gloves and we are talking about a console that truly is state-of-the-art. Its big dimension and the icons allow a smooth, fast and comfortable usage. Quickly configure the system by pressing on the touch-screen and easily browse through the menus, change parameters and check status messages. You can choose a bright or dark color scheme and you can protect advanced menus against improper modifications by unauthorized personnel.

Control from the PC

We have a PC software to check, monitor and change the parameters of the applicator, that you can use by connecting the system to the network via Ethernet cable or directly to the PC using USB.

Detect Lost Labels

When it is properly adjusted, the system practically never drops a label, unless there is a big external turbulence or an inadvertent contact with the tamp. The label presence on the tamp is properly detected by an air-pressure sensor, that is, if the vacuum level drops, it means that the label fell off of the tamp pad. Optionally, an optical sensor can be used for this detection. In order to never let a product pass without a label, you can configure the system to go into error mode on these situations (and possibly stop the production line) or you can ignore the error for cases where a verification and separation of badly labeled products is done downstream.

2D Codes for Easy Technical Support

Technical Support of the Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3

Have you ever had a problem and the technician started asking for lots of information about the configuration of the machine that were hard to obtain? With the Legi-Air 4050 E Gen 3, all you need to do is access the support menu, take a photo with the Datamatrix codes that appear on the display and send us an email with the picture. The technicians will have all the information about the state of the system and its current configuration and can detect if the problem is due to a misconfiguration or due to a hardware fault.

Industry 4.0 with N-Controller

The Legi-Air 4050 E is available with an optionally special controller (N-Controller) with an OPC UA (Open Platform Communications United Architecture) server, and thus, it offers a modern Industry 4.0 interface. The controller allows an extended connection to other devices, as well as, the exchange of information that goes beyond the simple signals. This way, the data can be presented in a more understandable way in simple text format or as statistic graphs. The state of the whole system can also be displayed. Besides that, the system is compatible with extended connections like Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, CANOpen, Modbus, among other fieldbus interfaces.

Use All the Features of the System

Legitronic Software

You can use any compatible software with the print engine that you have picked, but it is with Legitronic® that you can take full advantage of your printer. You can create simple or complex labels, with GS1 barcodes and RFID data and start a print job on the Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3. Learn more about the things that you can do with the software in Legitronic.

Different Applications

You can install several applicators on the system to perform simple and single applications on the top or on the side of the products with a linear stroke arm, or on the front or rear using rotative tamps. Or you can also apply labels on the corner of the products or even execute double applications onto the same product with only one system and pass-through. All that without needing to stop the conveyor line. The applications can be made with or without contact with the products, no matter if they are simple boxes or products with more complex shapes, such as bottles, flasks, cans, tires, among many other forms. With a single stand, you can adjust the system to apply on any position and the systems are available in left- or right-hand versions (LH/RH).

Few Stops

Unwinder of the Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3

With an unwinder that allows big label rolls and a rewinder for the label liner that works in 1:1, that is, with capacity to rewind the complete roll, you will have to make few stops to do label roll replacements. And we can supply label rolls with the right amount that you need so that during the stops you can replace both the print ribbon and the label roll at the same time.

Powered Rewinder and Unwinder

For a precise feeding of the labels, constantly keeping the ideal tension through the whole roll to avoid the unalignment and jamming of the liner, the system has two independent motors for both the rewinder and the unwinder.

Label Counter

On the digital HMI, you will have a label counter so that you know how many application cycles were performed. The counter has a capacity for 10 000 000 applications and then starts over automatically. You can reset the counter at any moment or you can use a countdown feature by setting the counter to a value greater than zero. In that case, the labeler will automatically stop the labeling process when the counter reaches zero. On the menu, you can also see the statistics of the last 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days.

High Quality Sturdy System

These labelers are very robust and reliable, with a lifespan that goes over 15 years. Built exclusively with quality materials, you will not find a single speck of rust and, besides the occasional cleaning of possible label adhesive build-up, they do not require neither lubrication or maintenance.

Safe and Certified Systems

These systems have CE certification and follow all European safety norms. Most of the standard system are complete complying systems (CC) with the safety norms and do not require additional protections or safeguards, given the fact that they do not exert forces over 50N. When the application rate is critical, there are faster versions in which the system is unlocked to go beyond the 50N of force threshold, being these versions identified as NC (not completed), since they require additional safeguards. If you choose a NC version, the system will include door-open sensors that will immediately halt the labeling operation when the safeguards are opened, so that the system cannot cause injuries. Furthermore, they also bring emergency kill switches to immediately stop the system manually.

Quiet and Energy Efficient

A system that applies labels like a machine-gun must consume a lot of power and be very loud... Or not! This system consumes as much power as a computer and is relatively quiet, keeping the noise emission below 75dB(A).

Easy Integration: Control the System

The system can send and receive several signals. As input signals, the system can execute the typical triggers to start the label printing process, extend the tamp and apply the label. The applicator can be configured to divide the 3 steps of a cycle (print, extension and application blow) or unite the extension and blow in one task and the label printing can be set to start automatically (when there is print data) as soon as the cycle begins. There are more input signals, like the reprint signal, very useful when a scanner is used to check the printed label. The input signals work in active and passive modes, that is, the 24V can be sent by the PLC or supplied by the labeler itself. Like this, only a contact needs to be switched.

Easy Integration: Get Status Information

The system makes available several output signals, such as, the information if the system is ready, if there are errors, if the tamp is in the home position, if there is data on the printer, if the printer is feeding (i.e., printing), if the label is on the tamp pad, among other signals. The applicator also sends a signal to warn when the label roll is approaching its end. You can also configure a synchronization signal that becomes active after the product's detection and deactivates at the end of the cycle, when the tamp returns to the home position, or to simply send a pulse after the application, in this last scenario, allowing a definition of a delay and duration in which the signal will be active.

Approved by System Integrators

With the Weber® policy for Global Export, the system integrator companies can export our print-and-apply systems as part of a bigger system and the final user gets all the technical support in the destination country, performed by the local distributor of that said country, all completely transparent and without additional costs. All that a system integrator must do is mention that the system is for resale and when the destination country is known, inform us about it so that we can proceed with the transfer of responsibility of the system to the local distributor.

Perfect Price/Quality Relation

This might not be the most affordable system on the market, but when considering the value and quality of this machine, the price is actually excellent. And if you throw in the life expectancy of this system, plus the expected reduced down-times and really low maintenance costs, in the long run, it will not come as a surprise if this system ends up being cheaper. You end up saving on, not only money, but on headaches as well.

Many Application Methods

You can equip your Legi-Air 4050 E Gen3 with one of several available applicators so that the system can be perfectly adapted to your products and type of application. Check the different kinds of applicators available below.

Applicators

Linear Movement Applicators

Legi-Air 4050E Gen3 Tamp-Blow

System with the classic Tamp-Blow method for top or side application, without contact with the products and no conveyor stops. With a proximity sensor, it is possible to apply labels on products with different heights. It can also be configured to work in Inverted-Tamp-Blow, where the tamp immediately extends and waits for the product already in position, and retracts after blowing the label onto the product, making it capable to label on fast production lines. There are several arms with different lengths, starting with the high-speed applicators with a short stroke up to 50mm and going all the way to the longest one that can reach 1200mm. There are pneumatic models and electric models with a servo motor for high-speeds.

Rotative Movement Applicators

Tamp-Swing Method

System with a rotative Tamp-Swing arm for application on the front or rear of the products, without requiring a full stop.

Applicators for Corner-Wrapping

Corner-Wrap Methods

System for wrapping the labels around the corners of boxes, using the Corner-Wrap method in which the tamp does not immediately retract, so it can fold the label around the edge. The advantage of this system is that the applicator arm is a simple rotative tamp and it does not require stops, however, the products cannot be too light. For lighter products, a Split-Tamp can be used.

Legi-Air 4050 P - Pallet Applicators

Legi-Air 4050 P

These are very similar to the normal Tamp-Blow version, but, as the systems are intended for pallet identification, the pallet applicators have reinforced and longer arms. There are versions for single or double applications, for putting labels on two adjacent sides of each pallet.
